Edmonton is the capital city of Alberta. As of 2008, the population for Edmonton City proper was 752,412; the Edmonton Metro Area was 1,102,401. Edmonton is located in the northern prairies, about 400 kilometres east of the Rocky Mountains. The North Saskatchewan River crosses through Edmonton diagonally from the northeast to the southwest.

There are plenty of activities for residents. Nicknamed 'The Festival City', Edmonton hosts over 30 world-class festivals year-round. The North Saskatchewan River Valley is the largest urban parkland in North America, winding through the core of the city, and having 48 kilometres of parkland with 22 major parks. There are 160 kilometres of maintained multi-use trails, 460 kilometres of single-track or unimproved trails. These trails are available for use year-round.

In the spring, summer and fall months, you can go swimming, boating, fishing, canoeing, hiking, golfing and biking around Edmonton. In the winter, you can go snowshoeing, skiing, cross-country skiing and ice skating. There are even ski hills within the Edmonton city limits! And winter or summer, you can always go to West Edmonton Mall and take in the amusement park, the world's largest indoor wave pool, ice skating rink, take in a movie - or just eat or shop!

There are many quality apartments for rent in Edmonton to choose from. The apartment rental availability in Edmonton is considered reasonable compared to other major Canadian cities.
